In portrait photography, there is nothing more beautiful than a person. If you want to capture the beauty of a person in a photo, then you have to start with the light.
The light is what brings the features of a person’s face into relief, allows you to see all the contours and shapes that make up their face, and makes the face beautiful.
So how do you capture the perfect light in a portrait photo to show a person’s features clearly?
It’s all about how you position yourself in relation to your subject. You’ll want to place yourself at a slight angle from your subject so that light can be cast across their face as though it were grazing it. This will reveal all the contours and shapes that make up a person’s face, creating depth and shadows that bring out the best in them.
You’ll also want to avoid shooting directly into sunlight – especially in Dubai. This will create harsh shadows or wash out your subject entirely. Instead, try shooting where there is indirect natural light, which can come from a window for example to make the light soft on your subject’s skin. The best time for this light is usually the afternoon in Dubai.
