If you’re planning a wedding, chances are you’ve already started thinking about your bridal photoshoot. If you haven’t, now’s the time to get started! Bridal portraits are a great way to set the tone for your wedding day. Frame them as home decor and share on your social media channels. If you like, use your bridal portrait as personal thank-you cards for your wedding guests. So here are a few tips to make sure your bridal photoshoot turns out just great:

1. Do your photoshoot homework

Have a good amount of time to prepare for your bridal portrait photoshoot. Get your hair and makeup done, and get a professional manicure and pedicure. If you have a piece of jewelry that makes you feel beautiful, bring it along to your photoshoot. It’s the perfect way to bring out your inner beauty and to show off the things that make YOU so special.

2. Dress to impress

You want your pictures to look like they’re from another time period and place. So go for your actual wedding dress or a complimentary one that feels timeless and elegant from head to toe. Clean and press your dress before the shoot because it must look its best on camera. And consider ordering a fresh bouquet of flowers from your florist, or having one delivered if the florist isn’t local.

3. Talk with your photographer

Take some time beforehand to talk with your photographer about what kind of pose or setting you’d like for your shot. The more specific you are the better. And be ready to take direction too. Have some ideas about poses that you’d like to try out. But don’t get too attached to any one pose. The photographer might have other ideas for how best to capture the moment and make it look great.

Bonus tip

Relax. A big part of looking good in pictures is feeling good yourself—so take deep breaths and go into the shoot with confidence.
