Sometimes you just need a professional portrait. Whether you’re trying to get a job, set up a good-looking LinkedIn profile, or impress your mom with how grown-up you look, you’re going to want to look like the best version of yourself.
So how do you take a great shot? Here are some easy steps to follow:
First off, find a nice backdrop for your photo. You don’t have to go all out and get an expensive background—you can just find a nice plain wall in your house or apartment that doesn’t already have holes in it.
Next, use good lighting. A soft light source is ideal—try to avoid any sharp shadows falling across your face. If you use natural light, try standing by a large window but don’t let direct sunlight fall on your face!
If you’re using natural light, also avoid taking pictures when the sun is directly overhead. Taking pictures at dawn or dusk will give you much more flattering light and make it easier for you to get a good shot!
